Acne
Acne vulgaris (or simply Acne) is a long-term skin disease that occurs when hair follicles become clogged with dead skin cells and oil from the skin. Acne is characterised by blackheads, whiteheads, pimples and greasy skin. Severe acne often results in scarring. This dramatic effect on appearance can lead to anxiety, reduced self esteem and even depression.
Many acne sufferers seek advice from their local GP who will often prescribe a broad spectrum antibiotic to reduce the inflammation and assist with healing. Whilst this can be very effective, there are several options available which can have dramatic results in controlling acne without resorting to antibiotics.
