Downturned Mouth
In our youth, our lips are at their fullest. Plump with volume and shaped by well defined borders. The underlying structures are also firm and sit high on our cheeks causing the corners of the mouth to sit level or even slightly upturned. This subtle effect creates a strong impression of youth. It helps us appear ‘happy’ and lifts the appearance of our entire face.
The irony of ageing, is that in spite of our emotional state, the substructures of the face begin to descend. In turn, the corners of our mouth begin to turn downward and we may find people asking us to ‘cheer up’ or ‘smile’ – even though we may be perfectly happy inside.
Using a very small amount of carefully placed dermal filler, we can return the corners of the mouth to their youthful state of being level or slightly upturned. This simple procedure can have a profound effect on our appearance. This subtle upturning of the mouth immediately creates a happier and brighter expression when we are relaxed. Much like we had in our youth, this small treatment can create the appearance of a much more youthful and positive person. This great little trick is the perfect addition to a lip filler treatment or in combination with cheek rejuvenation can really boost your results. Make sure to discuss this with Dr Wilkinson at your next consultation.
